RAFT

Raft studios focuses on Wellness and positive mental health - helping those that may be isolated, lonely or those needing a creative outlet to keep their minds healthy and offer a feeling of self worth.  We are inclusive of all cultures and ethnicities. 

We aim to provide an open, warm and friendly space where people can come and learn, play and enjoy arts and crafts.

Our studio is  a 'walk in and create' space where you can spend time learning new Art or Craft - help others learn the crafts you know or just enjoy connecting with others. 

We offer tutorials in different craft mediums for both individuals and groups. Our Studio space is also able to be used by other groups like writing clubs, photography and Repair cafes.

Raft studios is a Charitable Trust organization, we donate back into our community through providing free or cost effective classes and workshops.  

To stay focused on our low waste and recycled ethos,  we rely on community donations of materials and equipment -  we aim to recycle and reuse as much as possible. 

​

The idea for our studio space started out in 2021 with a group of local artists looking for a space in the community to connect and create. This project has grown into RAFT studio, an arts and crafts studio space where members are welcomed to come along, get creative and share their work. We are named after the raft at Waiake beach, a symbol of our home and a metaphor for art acting as a life raft for our community.
